'Mortal' Tang cannot finish his Burgundy
Henny Tang, the politician whose campaign to become Hong Kong chief executive was derailed by revelations of a wine cellar in an illegal basement is trying once again to connect with the people of the Chinese city: by selling them his wine.

Christie's on Friday started auctioning some rare Burgundy wines from a collection Mr Tang kept in his Kowloon basement. It expects the bottles to fetch HK$29m ($3.7m).

Mr Tang was originally Beijing's choice to run Hong Kong. But his bid was dashed when it emerged that he had converted a huge basement – in a city where most people live in tiny apartments – into a wine cellar without planning permission.
