Xi Jinping becomes Chinese president
The Chinese Communist party on Thursday formally anointed Xi Jinping to serve as the country's president for the next decade.
In a ceremony in the Great Hall of the People in Tiananmen Square, Mr Xi was "elected" by delegates to the National People's Congress, the country's rubber-stamp parliament.
