Egypt's political crisis deepened on Tuesday after President Mohamed Morsi rejected an army ultimatum to force a resolution in the stand-off with his opponents, saying that he had not been consulted and would pursue his own plans for national reconciliation.

Debt default fears rise over Brazilian tycoon
OGX, the flagship oil company of Brazilian billionaire Eike Batista, on Monday announced that its only producing wells would probably close next year, leaving it with one unproved field that is still under development. The news that the once high-flying group is pinning its remaining hopes on a field that has yet to start production has heightened fears that it is near to defaulting on its billions of dollars of debt.
