Fresh signs of life in Asia debt markets
Baidu has issued the first $1bn bond by a Chinese company in over two months, the latest sign of recovery in Asia's bruised debt markets. China's dominant internet search engine tapped US investors for only the second time on Tuesday after the close of US markets, raising $1bn in five-year bonds.

Commodity market volatility set to rise
Implied volatilities (vol) for commodities are low by historical standards. Sure, traders have to pay relatively more for the vol element of precious metal options. Indonesia youth flock to Japanese lessons
Rikho Sinurat studied Japanese at his Indonesian high school because he was a fan of the best-selling Dragon Ball and One Piece manga comics, but he continued in university for a more prosaic reason. "I wanted to do French at university, but my parents told me there are many more Japanese companies in Indonesia so I switched to Japanese," says the 23-year-old, who now works in the Jakarta office of Pacific Metals, a Japanese nickel producer.
