As Kenya began three days of national mourning for the victims of the country's worst terrorist attack in 15 years, the country's security forces continued to comb Nairobi's Westgate mall for victims.

The attack is the latest indication of rising Islamist militant terrorism across African states. Groups such as al-Shabaab, AQIM, and Boko Haram may be growing in capability because of the dispersal of weapons stocks after the overthrow of Gaddafi and the relative weakness of regional governments.
